Youth Club

Thanks to funding from the company X press feeders, the farm is now running free Youth Clubs for those aged 8-16, and it runs every Friday 3:30-5 and Saturday 9:30-11.

The club is aimed at improving and supporting young peoples wellbeing using the outdoors, nature, and animals. We offer a inclusive, accessible, and holistic club, where the young people learn new skills and make friends. 

The group size is 8 young people per group. If there are any dietary requirements or support needs, please email: [email protected].

This club runs every Friday from 3:30-5 and Saturdays 9:30-11, with focussed activities changing each week to offer a wide range of experience for the young people. This includes:

Poultry and Pigs week: Friday 27th February + Saturday 28th February
  • Learn how to care for chickens, ducks and pigs
  • Create enrichment for the chickens, ducks, and pigs
  • Chicken handling and feeding them some corn
  • Meet our rescue chickens and Turkeys in our Safe Wings Sanctuary
  • Fridays- putting animals to bed and feeding dinner
  • Saturdays- Letting animals out and feeding breakfast
 
Goat and Sheep care week: Friday 6th March + Saturday 7th March
  • Cleaning and strawing up the barn
  • Feed Hay to the goats and sheep (go in the field with Pygmy goats, Nubian goats, Guernsey goats and Sheep)
  • Groom the goats and take the goats for a walk around the farm
  • Fridays- putting animals to bed and feeding dinner
  • Saturdays- Letting animals out and feeding breakfast
 
Small Animal care week: Friday 13th March + Saturday 14th March
  • Clean out the guinea pig or rabbit enclosures and refresh with clean bedding
  • Prepare the guinea pigs, rabbits, or reptiles’ food chop up veg and forage for weeds and greens from the garden
  • Guinea pig and reptile handling, grooming or bathing.
  • Small animal health checks and weighing.
  • Fridays- putting animals to bed and feeding dinner
  • Saturdays- Letting animals out and feeding breakfast
 
Woodland and animals: Friday 20th March + Saturday 21st March
  • We will start the session in our woodlands and toast marshmallows round a fire; we will also include a variety of woodland activities. After that we will meet some of our smaller animals like the guinea pigs and reptiles, learning how to handle them and feed them some treats.
  • Fridays- putting animals to bed and feeding dinner
  • Saturdays- Letting animals out and feeding breakfast

Farm tour: Friday 27th March + Saturday 28th March
  • An introduction to farm life with our staff, giving a hands on and interactive tour of our farm and garden. This will include handling, feeding, and grooming activities.
  • Fridays- putting animals to bed and feeding dinner
  • Saturdays- Letting animals out and feeding breakfast

  • Prepare coops and enclosures for the evening and put the animals to bed.
  • Create enrichment for the chickens, ducks, or pigs!
  • Chicken handling and feeding them some corn
  • Meet our rescue chickens and Turkeys in our Safe Wings Sanctuary
  • Fridays- putting animals to bed and feeding dinner
  • Saturdays- Letting animals out and feeding breakfast

  • Strawing up the barn and preparing the animals dinner.
  • Feed Hay to the goats and sheep (go in the field with Pygmy goats, Nubian goats, Guernsey goats and Sheep)

  • Put the goats and sheep to bed for the evening, feeding them dinner.
  • Fridays- putting animals to bed and feeding dinner
  • Saturdays- Letting animals out and feeding breakfast

​Details for parents:
  • Suitable for ages 8-16yrs
  • All attending children must be dropped off and collected at reception by a responsible adult 
  • Please ensure your child brings a snack and drink with them
  • Please wear suitable outdoor footwear and clothing - The farm will be muddy, so wellies are recommended!
  • You will be asked to complete a permission form for each child on arrival.
  • All staff and volunteers working with children are DBS checked.

  • Bookings can be made for more than 1 child, but the booking system only allows 1 booking per date at a time. If you want to book multiple bookings, please book separately.
