THE BEST WAY OF SUPPORTING OUR ANIMALs DIRECTLY IS BY GIVING REGURLAY EACH MONTH. 100% OF THE MONEY YOU GIVE GOES TOWARDS THE ANIMALS CARE, WHICH INCLUDES THEIR FOOD, ENRICHMENT, ENCLOSURES, AND THE SESSIONS THAT LOOK AFTER THEM.
Patreon!
We are so excited to be part of the Patreon Community, and cannot wait to share some opportunities to support us, as well as engage with our animals and people.
All support that is given, goes directly to our beautiful animals and their care.
Some of the projects which your donation would help support include:
- General Animal Care! Animal Feed, Hay, and Straw currently costs us around £650 a month, and with vet bills and enclosure costs also rising, the need for support is really needed to help us maintain our current animal care.
- A brand new large rabbit run for our bunnies Basil and Clover, as their current pen isn't situated on the best part of the farm (very shaded, so not grass grows).
- A brand new Guinea Pig Run, with lots of opportunities to run around and stretch their legs! As the Guinea Pigs are so popular on the farm, we wanted a dedicated space for the children to engage and look after them!
- We would love to rehome some new animals this year! We are always offered some, but we often do not have any spare space. This year we have cleared an old garden, and have a large space to now offer some animals in need a new home. Some animals we are wanting to offer a new home to include Pigs and Pygmy Goats!
After taking care of your loved ones, donating to a charity in your will has a meaningful and lasting impact. Choosing Southampton City Farm to be a part of your legacy means you will significantly help secure the farms positive and inclusive transformation in our communities through our learning disability programme, education visits, therapeutic engagement, and enable us to offer more opportunities for people to benefit from our City Farm. Did you know that some of the community surrounding the farm is in the most income deprived areas of the country? Did you know when the prevalence of depression is examined at sub city level using the (ACG) database, Redbridge ward (the ward we are based in) had the highest prevalence in the city? We are passionate to continue our work to empower and support our community. The farms 2,800 hours of support offered to the community is well needed. Some examples of our Work include:
560 hours of life skills building activities for our learning disability farmers
Average of 30 new volunteers per year. With the farm offering mental health boosting activities that help build employable skills and confidence for those furthest from the job market.
616 hours of therapeutic activities offered to young people and vulnerable members in our community.
Any donation, large or small, makes a long-lasting difference to the animals and the people on our farm. Some examples of the charitable work your donation would support include:
Securing our life enhancing activities and increasing subsidised provision to an ever-growing demand for vulnerable groups.
Running more activities- Your donation would allow us to run an increased amount of life saving and life skills teaching sessions with people from our community. It would allow us to buy new craft items for some of our farmers, new computers to teach employable skills, and new inclusive equipment for all our groups to use.
New enrichment items - Leaving a donation to us in your will would mean we can purchase more long-lasting enrichment for the animals. All our animals on the farm get different enrichment items each day to make sure they are stimulated and having fun. With a donation, we would be able to add to the enrichment items we already have and give the animals a new thing to do. Some examples include a new swing ball toy for our pig, new climbing structures for our Golden Guernsey Goats, and new hay toys for our Guinea Pig girls.
Provide a modern, inspiring, and sustainable new building to offer a high quality, suitable teaching environment. Our current building is over 30 years old. Originally intended for a temporary classroom for the old Millbrook School, it was only meant to be in use for a short time. 30 years later and the building is in need of constant repairs, with large amounts of effort needed to make sure we can run the lifesaving activities on the farm. Any donation would enable us to make sustainable repairs and modifications to the building, meaning more of our time and finances can be spent on people and animals.
Animal enclosure changes - This would enable us to buy good quality materials to replace and improve some of our existing enclosures. A few examples include new timber for extending our goose pen, concrete for our pig pen to give Penny a large area of hard standing, new fence posts for our entire site (to keep the goats in!), and a new concrete layered pond for our ducks and geese.
If you are interested in leaving a gift in your will and wish to get in touch, please email [email protected] and we would love to talk to you about the impact this would have.
If you have already left a gift in your will to the farm, please do let us know so we can thank you and invite you for a special tour around the farm.
